Raven Crag: Climb to Thirlmere Reservoir Views

This is a short, steep walk but it’s only two miles and worth it for the fantastic view of Thirlmere from the top!

Walk along West Road to the gate on your left, go through the gate and then follow the forest road. There is a path that starts opposite the roadside parking, but this is a very steep path so we prefer to use the forest road with the kids. Follow the forest road for half a mile, then turn left when you get to a set of steps. Follow this rocky, steep path for about a quarter of a mile, then when you get to the gates, turn left. Then follow the path and then the steps through the trees until you reach the top.

This is a steep, but achievable Wainwright Fell. It was great for our young ones who like clambering up rocks.
